Things and stuff drive

We are excited to announce that during the month of February, we will be hosting a Things and Stuff Drive to benefit our friends at Marillac St. Vincent. MSV offers a handful of incredible programs for children, youth, pregnant or parenting teens, adults, families, and seniors alike. Through their hard work, they have been able to improve the health and well-being of individuals and families within our community by providing access to shelf-stable food, produce, dairy and meat between their two food pantries in the Chicagoland area. They have a large footprint and many people that rely on them for all sorts of things, ranging from food, hygiene materials, and winter clothes.

In some geographies, the spring season may be right around the corner. For those of us in Chicago, spring is merely a dream; a mirage, the faded echo of distant memory. The gentle touch of the sun on our skin is an enchanting story that we’ve assimilated from our ancestors past. The frigid air, hard and relentless, encapsulates us wholly, devouring the slivers of contentment we awake grasping at each day.

Because of this, our primary focus for the Things and Stuff Drive will be to gather winter clothes that we can use to help outfit some of the housing insecure population within our city; to help these folks that are bearing the bitter cold during these last few months of winter. Along with this, we are looking to gather as much shelf-stable food as we can, along with any unused and ideally compact hygiene products.

How you can help

The burning question. There are a million ways you can help!

In-person donations: For the month of February, all donations are able to be made in-person (if you’re comfortable) at 730 W. Couch Place, Chicago, IL 60661, there will be a bin in the main lobby where you can drop off any materials listed above for our team to sort through and get in the hands of the folks at MSV.

Donation pickup: If you have some of the requested items, but you aren’t too fond of leaving your abode on account of the worsening global pandemic, we do not blame you one bit. There are only a few of us, but please email us at hello@nourishchi.org and we will do our best to accommodate pickup requests for donations. If you have a car, truck, van, scooter, trolley, or ANYTHING and are willing to help make pickups, please send us an email as well!

PayPal for hygiene kits: If you don’t have or can’t find any items that would make a good donation, you can make a monetary donation to Nourish Chicago here. Nourish Chicago will be putting 100% of donations received prior to and during the month of February toward the bulk purchase of hygiene kits.
